CADE (Communication & Disability Empowerment) is dedicated to advancing access to spelling- and typing-based communication for non-speaking individuals with disabilities, with a particular focus on autism.

We educate families, professionals, and policymakers to presume competence, reject speech-based assumptions of intelligence, and ensure that non-speakers are included in decisions that affect their lives.

CADE works to create change at both the individual level—supporting families and communication access—and the systemic level—advocating for inclusive policies at local, state, and federal levels.
