Supporting communication access for non-speaking individuals
CADE offers direct grants for parents and caregivers to help remove financial barriers to communication access.
These grants are designed to support education, instruction, and technology that enable non-speaking and other disabled individuals to communicate through spelling- and typing-based methods and AAC tools.
Grant Funds May Be Used For:
- Education and instruction in spelling- and typing-based communication
- Assistive and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices
- Tablets, keyboards, and communication technology
- Communication software and applications
- Training for families and support teams on effective AAC use
- Related tools that promote independent communication
Every person deserves access to communication—regardless of income, insurance coverage, or outdated beliefs about ability.
Who Can Apply:
Parents or legal guardians of non-speaking individuals with disabilities
Applicants may apply on behalf of children, teens, or adults
Diagnosis is not used to determine intelligence or eligibility
Application Process:
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis
Grant availability is dependent on funding
Priority is given to applications aligned with CADE’s mission of presuming competence and communication access
